Playboy TV has tapped leading European company Marc Dorcel to manage its television business in multiple overseas regions, effective May 1.
The deal, which includes linear channel programming, exclusive distribution and management of VOD content, will cover Europe (except UK, Spain and Portugal), Africa and the Middle East.
The programming offered under the deal will include the best of Playboy TV's content library, as well as select Marc Dorcel titles.
We are happy to foster the emblematic brand of Playboy TV in Europe, Marc Dorcel CEO Gregory Dorcel commented. We will use all our local expertise to fulfill one goal: make Playboy TV Europe as attractive as possible for the European viewers. We
share many of the same universal values and we are happy to bring this to life through content to the widest audience by leveraging Playboy TV's brand power with our European know-how.
Ofcom's latest TV Broadcasting Licence Updates reveals that Playboy TV is no longer licensed for TV and satellite broadcast in the UK. Presumably this means that the service has ended on other UK TV distribution services too.
The softcore service ended for the UK on 1st December 2017, but is continuing for other countries.
And perhaps the strangest aspect to the story is that no one seems to have noticed.
