During the early sixties, a ground-breaking format called "nouvelle vague" was unleashed upon French cinema with a force that forever changed the contemporary style of that era.

This "new wave" form rejected the traditional "old Hollywood" sense of stories based on narratives and structures from earlier media, namely books and theatre. The "new" directors did not want to hold the viewer's hand through each scene and direct their emotions, feeling that interfered with the ability to perceive and react to film as in real life.

L'EAU A LA BOUCHE (aka A Game for Six Lovers ), a tale of comedic errors and mistakes centered around a simple story where the women are looking for love (and sex) and so are the men, is typical nouvelle vague - a story is told, but it's the mood that makes the film with its camera angles, scenery, and discreet lighting.

Featuring the directorial debut of Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, the film stars Françoise Brion , Paul Guers , and Alexandra Stewart as the heirs to their grandmother's estate, who gather with a notary to share her inheritance. Very quickly, however, the light-hearted atmosphere unwinds and alters the reunion. The chateau becomes the perfect languid setting for intimacy and permissiveness, and a romantic ménage unfolds with six would-be lovers paired off, spending the night making love.

The film's true sense of nouvelle vague is demonstrated perfectly during the castle scene; the camera circles the castle in the dark, showing only the outline of the castle silhouetted against the vastness of the night, as the glorious soundtrack, written and performed by Serge Gainsbourg, enhances the beauty of the moment.

Bonus Features:
1. Bonus Featurette: "The French 60s & theme to "L'eau a la bouche" by Serge Gainsbourg"
2. Photo Gallery
3. Reversible English & French artwork
4. English Subtitles

From the film vaults of Eurociné--the mind-boggling company that brought you Zombie Lake, Crimson, and Orloff and the Invisible Man--comes this riotous French/Spanish co-production, originally titled La perversa caricia de Satán ("The Perverse Caresses of Satan")! When the Countess de Moncourt (Night of the Howling Beast's Silvia Solar) is left destitute by the suicide of her husband, she resumes her former identity as Claire Grandier--comely Goth and medium! Teaming up with Dr. Gruber (Eurociné regular Olivier Mathot), a down-on-his-luck telepath, they accept an invitation from an eccentric duke to stage a séance at his candle-lit castle, as a follow-up to a funky fashion show of hilarious "avant garde" wear. Impressed by Claire's command of the supernatural, the duke invites her and Gruber to room at his chateau. Working from a dank cellar with the help of a lascivious dwarf, Claire--aided by Gruber's telepathic powers--succeeds in reanimating a pauper's mutilated corpse and sending it on a mission of revenge...but how will she control this doddering zombie should Gruber succumb to his weak heart? Devil's Kiss was the first and only horror film directed by "Georges Gigo"--the French pseudonym of Spanish-born Jorge Luís Gigó Aznar, who can be seen as the fashion show announcer. A moody mélange of Frankenstein, Dracula, Lovecraft, and Munster cheese, it's the sort of atmospheric, lecherous, ultimately insane witch's brew that could only come from the cauldrons at Eurociné! -- Tim Lucas

Genre regular Cameron Mitchell (The Toolbox Murders, From a Whisper to a Scream) stars in this thrilling tale of escaped hoodlums and underground-dwelling cannibals from director Leszek Burzynski and Hellraiser producer Christopher Webster.

One wintry night, pals Robin and Monica are making their way to a Christmas party when they re carjacked by a gang of crooks recently escaped from the local penitentiary. With the two young women taken as hostages, things take an even darker turn when their vehicle plummets down an abandoned mine shaft, trapping them underground with the dangerous crooks - and a mutant cannibal.

Filmed in 1988 under the title of Forever Mine but not released until 1993, Trapped Alive was the first film to come out of Wisconsin s now-defunct Windsor Lake Studios, which would go on to produce a number of films under the Fangoria Films label in the early-90s, including 1992 s Bruce Campbell-starring Mindwarp.

Restored in 4K from the original lm negative, Jacques Rivette's THE NUN (1965), initially banned in France, can now be seen in all its revolutionary glory. Adapted from Denis Diderot's novel, it follows a rebellious nun (played by an incandescent Anna Karina) who is forced into taking her vows. Initially shunted into a restrictive, torturous convent, she eventually moves on to a more liberated one, where she becomes an object of Mother Superior's (Liselotte Pulver) obsession. Banned for over a year by the French Minister of Information, and not released in the United States until 1971, it slowly became a landmark of the French New Wave, and with this stunning restoration, should also become an object of worship.
