Years after the shocking murders that made the name Charles Manson synonymous with pure evil, the three women who killed for him -- Leslie Van Houten (Hannah Murray, Game Of Thrones), Patricia Krenwinkel (Sosie Bacon, 13 Reasons Why), and Susan Atkins (Marianne Rendón, Imposters) -- remain under the spell of the infamous cult leader (Matt Smith, Doctor Who, The Crown). Confined to an isolated cellblock in a California penitentiary, the trio seems destined to live out the rest of their lives under the delusion that their crimes were part of a cosmic plan -- until empathetic graduate student Karlene Faith (Merritt Wever, Nurse Jackie) is enlisted to rehabilitate them. Convinced that the prisoners are not the inhuman monsters the world believes them to be, Karlene begins the arduous process of breaking down the psychological barriers erected by Manson. But are the women ready to confront the horror of what they did? Boundary pushing auteur Mary Harron (American Psycho, I Shot Andy Warhol) presents a provocative new perspective on one of the most notorious crimes of the 20th century.

Armed with a group of hideously deformed mutant slaves, it's not long before the tranquil college becomes host to vicious violence and carnage.

A Detroit shot regional horror movie made at the decline of the direct-to-video era, HELLMASTER was the first feature from cult filmmaker Douglas Schulze ( Dark Fields ) and co-stars David Emge ( Dawn of the Dead ). Combining gothic horror and creature-filled narrative trappings with intensely colorful and Argento inspired visuals, courtesy of acclaimed cinematographer Michael Goi ( American Horror Story ), HELLMASTER was originally titled THEM , but was subsequently re-edited with new footage also added and released straight to video and cable several years after its initial completion. Vinegar Syndrome presents this fascinating slice of creature horror in its original theatrical THEM version for the first time on home video, along with its more commonly seen HELLMASTER recut, newly restored in 4k from its 35mm original negative under supervision from cinematographer Michael Goi.

    Bonus Features:

Hester Ramsey ( Yvonne De Carlo ) lives in a cavernous old house, with only her pet Rottweiler, Greta, to keep her company. Bitter and alone, Hester blames her estranged sister for stealing away her one true love, Sam, decades earlier. Following her sister's death, Hester begins to plot a diabolical revenge, using her knowledge of the black arts to place a spell on her dog, and then gifting the satanic beast to her grief stricken niece, Audrey ( Stephanie Dunnam ). Soon, those closest to Audrey begin to get bumped off by her newly cursed pet in a series of increasingly violent 'accidents,' as Hester seeks to kill off all of her surviving family and leave Audrey to take the blame.

A low key Texas lensed supernatural thriller that was produced by a construction company, Peter Wittman's PLAY DEAD , mixes Southern melodrama and a smattering of T&A, alongside its requisite bloodshed and occult tinged twists. Given only a scant theatrical release before being dumped to video, Vinegar Syndrome brings this regional sleeper to Blu-ray, newly restored in 2k from its original 35mm interpositive.

    Reviews

    • See review from slantmagazine.com : " It's nonetheless disturbing how easily much of the film's dystopian production design could be imperceptibly placed among contemporary realist dramas "

    Promotional Material

This masterly adaptation of George Orwell's chilling parable about totalitarian oppression gives harrowing cinematic expression to the book's bleak prophetic vision. In a rubble-strewn surveillance state where an endless overseas war props up the repressive regime of the all-seeing Big Brother, and all dissent is promptly squashed, a profoundly alienated citizen, Winston Smith (thrillingly played by John Hurt), risks everything for an illicit affair with the rebellious Julia (Suzanna Hamilton) in a defiant assertion of humanity in the face of soul-crushing conformity. Through vividly grim production design and expressionistically desaturated cinematography by Roger Deakins, Michael Radford's 1984 conjures a dystopian vision of postwar Britain as fascistic nightmare--a world all too recognizable as our own.

    The Doors

    Link Here

The Doors is a 1991 USA music biography by Oliver Stone.
Starring Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan and Kyle MacLachlan. BBFC link IMDb

Exists as a Theatrical Version and the Final Cut, shortened by the director.

Oliver Stone commented about his Final Cut:

I've made one cut of 3 minutes to a scene I thought it was superfluous to the ending, which helps close the film in a more powerful way.

US: The Final Cut is Uncut and MPAA R rated for:
    • 2019 Sony [Final Cut + Theatrical Version] (RA) 4k Blu-ray at US Amazon released on 23rd July 2019
    • 2019 Amazon Prime VoD [US only] at US Amazon

    Summary Notes

Oliver Stone's homage to 1960s rock group The Doors also doubles as a biography of the group's late singer, the "Electric Poet" Jim Morrison. The movie follows Morrison from his days as a film student in Los Angeles to his death in Paris, France at age 27 in 1971. The movie features a tour-de-force performance by Val Kilmer, who not only looks like Jim Morrison's long-lost twin brother, but also sounds so much like him that he did much of his own singing. It has been written that even the surviving Doors had trouble distinguishing Kilmer's vocals from Morrison's originals.

THEY WENT FROM ZEROES TO HEROES IN ONE FANTASTIC WEEKEND.

If you can t get a date... make one! After proving himself the king of heartfelt teen flicks with Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, writer-director John Hughes infused the genre with a hefty dose of wacked-out sci-fi comedy in Weird Science, a film where every teenage boy s wildest fantasies come to life.

Perenially picked-on high school nerds Gary (Anthony Michael Hall, Sixteen Candles) and Wyatt (Ilan Mitchell-Smith) are sick of their status at the bottom of the social food chain. Using Wyatt s computer, the two hatch a plan to create their dream woman and following a massive power surge, that woman unexpectedly appears in the form of Lisa (Kelly LeBrock). Gorgeous, intelligent, and blessed with limitless magic powers, Lisa makes the boys dreams come true... but what about Wyatt s gun-toting psycho older brother Chet (Bill Paxton), and the two bullies (Robert Downey Jr and Vamp s Robert Rusler) determined to put them back in their place?
